HG AGE GUNDAM AGE-1 (NORMAL) WEATHERED & CHIPPED built by J.B.

Hello everyone!

Welcome to my first gunpla post as I will be showing my first custom Gundam kit, the HG 1/144 Gundam AGE-1 (Normal), all “Chipped & Weathered.”

I got this kit back in December and since I didn’t want to do a simple straight build and I’ve never seen a “beatened” AGE-1, I’ve decided to practice more of my weathering and chipping!

The paints I used for the Gundam AGE-1 are:

  • Gundam Marker Gray (on the white pieces)
  • Gundam Marker Silver (on the color pieces)
  • Gundam Marker Metallic Blue
  • Gundam Marker Metallic Green
  • Gundam Marker Black
  • Gundam Marker Liner Pen Black
  • Tamiya Spray Paint – TS-15 Blue
  • Tamiya Weathering Effect Set – “Rust”
  • Tamiya Weathering Effect Set – “Soot”
  • Tamiya Weathering Effect Set – “Mud”

Since I’m not a fan of stickers, I’ve paint the eyes, cameras, lens, and the “A” on the chest with a mix of both Gundam Marker metallic blue & metallic green together to give it that “teal” color. I also used Gundam Marker Black around the eyes, chest, and knees.

I’ve also decided to spray paint the right shoulder & ankle guards of this AGE-1 Blue with Tamiya spray paint to make this kit my own custom.

For the chipping, I used Gundam Marker Gray for the white pieces and silver for the color. I’ve pour paint out of the marker and then used a small haired paint brush, removed some of the paint and paint around the edges of the kit to give this Gundam AGE-1 some wear.

For the weathering I used Tamiya Weathering Effect set on certain ares of the kit. I used “rust” on most of the kit, “mud” on the feet and shield, and used “soot” on the shield to make this kit look like it has been through some heavy battles.

Then I used Testors “Dull Coat” for the finish.

Overall the HG Gundam AGE-1 was a fun build! I liked how the weathering and chipping turned out and it has good accessories and articulation.

There are some downsides to this kit as the hip pieces did not want to close together all the way leaving a gap and the beam sabers on the side skirts do tend to pop off at times.

But despite that it a great kit and a good choice to try out if your a beginner. I highly recommend it!

So until next time Gundam builders and fans, have a great one!
